Rustics Visit - 2016

London Docklands Museum, Tuesday, 10th May

Visiting London Docklands Museum, where there was a conducted tour, with ample time to see the rest of the museum.

There was a museum café and plenty of places to eat in Canary Wharf. The area has historic associations with the docks, and it was possible to have a ride on the DLR or Thames Clippers.

Rustics Visit - 2015

Combe Mill and Oxford Bus museum

Tuesday 22nd September 2015

The day trip to rural Oxfordshire was a great success, the journey smooth and the welcome from Combe Mill and Oxford Bus Museum volunteers crowning a very interesting day.

Both venues opened especially for us, and at Combe Mill, the original site of Blenheim Palace Sawmill, we enjoyed the full treatment, with the beam engine under steam, together with a fascinating collection of auxiliary engines, ancient clock mechanisms, and artefacts galore.

After lunch, we were welcomed to the bus museum by more volunteers; after viewing their fascinating collection, including the Morris Collection, we had tea and cakes to sustain us on our journey home.

All agreed, a lovely day out. Ideas for next year, please.
