Holiday to Bristol

13th to 17th July 2014

 

 

Sunday 13th July

Left Farnham  to travel to the Arnos Manor Hotel in Bristol.   Coffee stop at Reading services on the M4, then on to Blunsdon for the Swindon & Cricklade Railway where we had Lunch, visited the workshops and had a ride on the train.

 

     

 

Then on to the Arnos Manor Hotel.

 

 

 

Monday 14th July

Left for a 2 hour coach tour of Bristol led by a blue badge guide. Terminating at the Bristol Museum & art gallery.

 

    

 

 

Spending the afternoon looking at the exhibits in the museum

 

 

 

Tuesday 15th July

Left for Temple Quay to board a Bristol Ferry Boat for a cruise through the city to the SS Great Britain & the Brunel institute.

 

     

 

 

 

 

 

 

     

 

         

     

 

Following a meet & greet, a good inspection of the ship & institute and lunch we returned to Arnos vale to visit Bristol Blue Glass 

 

 

  

 

and then on to the historic Arnos Vale Cemetery.

 

    

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 16th July

We left for the short journey to M Shed (was the Bristol Industrial Museum) and the good ship Matthew. 

 

         

 

After lunch in the M Café we travelled to the iconic Brunel Clifton Suspension Bridge for an interesting tour and view point.

 

         

 

 

 

Thursday 17th July

After our last breakfast we left the Hotel and travelled on the pretty route to the Wiltshire village of Avebury, with the largest stone circle in the world. 

 

   

 

We  arrived in Farnham at about 5.00pm.
